Which Story are You Living?
We all have a story of ourselves that we adopted or created. Then we all have the true story of who we are. Let’s call the first one your “conditioning story” and the second one your “soul story”. A core belief and underlying narrative drive both. Both are made real by our experiences and our actions. And both can and will exist in the same being but eventually, we must choose which story to live. We can not hold fear and opportunity in the same hand.
Some recent tensions and the ensuing intense discussions revealed that I have been, in many ways, still living my conditioning story - or at least being influenced by it. It was time to choose my soul story. It was time to live in present reality. But first I had to examine my conditioning story’s influence.
My conditioning story was built on this trauma-informed narrative: I am defective. There’s something wrong with me. That’s why I was bullied and abused. And that’s why I will always inadvertently hurt those I love and they will leave me.
