Justice.
It’s Independence Day here in the US. As a history nerd, I’ve always appreciated the significance of July 4. Something truly great was born on this day in 1776. But as someone who also pays attention to the ugly side of our current and past history, I also see that, for many people, it’s not independence day. I will also admit that I’m somewhat jaded as we find ourselves living with a Trump Supreme Court and a Biden economy.
We have many blessings in our country. And a growing list of problems - with minimal possible solutions emerging from those we’ve elected to lead us. So what is an everyday person to do about freedom and independence? Well, I love the way the angelic Maya Angelou puts it: “Love liberates. It doesn't just hold—that's ego. Love liberates. It doesn't bind...”
